Happy 50th Anniversary!
It is my honor to be the Executive Director/CEO of the Oroville Rescue Mission during its 50th Anniversary Celebration. Since 1963, and really before, the Mission has been reaching out to the “less fortunate” of the Community of Oroville, and its surrounding areas.
During the last 50 years, the Mission has developed many programs to assist those in need. Our goal is not to “just feed” people; but instead to minister to the “whole man.” Taking the old adage, “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day; but if you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.” The Ministry of the Oroville Rescue Mission is to teach those who have been less fortunate to become contributing members of our community and in turn give someone else a helping hand up. Here are some of the “helps” that the Oroville Rescue Mission provides…
· Food, shelter, clothing & hot showers
o 3 hot meals, served 7 days per week.
· Emergency Food Boxes
· Emergency Clothing vouchers for those whose homes have been damaged/destroyed by fire/flood.
· Nightly Chapel services ministering to the need of the spiritual man.
· Residential Drug & Alcohol Recovery Program.
o Christian 12-Step Program.
o 3 Group meetings each week.
· Morning Bible Studies designed to be applied to daily living.
· Job skills training in office administration, typing, culinary arts, catering, truck driving, merchandising, cashiering, customer service, warehousing, yard care, building maintenance.
o We hope to be adding automotive mechanics to our list of job training opportunities in the very near future.
· Community Service opportunities providing our clients with the opportunities to “give back” to the community.
· Compassion, friendship, fellowship, & prayer that are designed to minister to the heart of each person.
It is my fervent hope that your visit to our website has provided you with some information about what your support provided to the Oroville Rescue Mission is doing in our community. It is truly our desire to minister to the needs of Oroville’s less fortunate.
